Construction Update for the Lift Station 5 Force Main project

MUKILTEO WATER AND WASTEWATER DISTRICT
SEWER LIFT STATION 5 FORCEMAIN UPGRADE PROJECT
UPDATE

May 10, 2021

Notice: The Mukilteo Water and Wastewater District’s (District) Contractor, Road Construction NW, Inc. has completed the underground bore from the Lift Station (LS) to the site on 63rd PL W.  They are scheduled to pull back the actual LS Forcemain pipe, into the bore tomorrow, May 11th beginning at 8:00 AM.  The pipe will be initially staged and then pulled in the Southbound (Westerly) lane of 63rd PL W.  Driveway access to the five houses on the West side of 63rd PL W, down the hill from the project area, (current pit in the road) will be blocked during the pull.   The pull is anticipated to take most of the day.

Impacts:  During pull back the five residences on the West side of 63rd PL W, closest to the road pit, will have their driveway access blocked. The residences on the East side of 63rd PL W will need to turn down the hill to leave/exit the area.  There will be workers on site to direct traffic and they will do the best they can to accommodate access during the pull back.   IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY POLICE/MEDICAL/FIRE WILL BE GRANTED ACCESS TO THE BLOCKED DRIVEWAYS.

Contact for Questions: We are nearing the end of the project. The District appreciates your understanding and apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause. MUKILTEO WATER AND WASTEWATER DISTRICT
SEWER LIFT STATION 5 FORCEMAIN UPGRADE PROJECT

 Notice:

The Mukilteo Water and Wastewater District’s (District) Contractor, Road Construction NW, Inc. is currently working on the Sewer Lift Station 5 (LS) Forcemain (FM) Upgrade Project. Beginning Monday, April 26th there may be intensified construction noise in the vicinity as the drilling contractor completes placing the new sewer line. A new 6” High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) FM will be installed directly under the existing FM by directional bore from the Lift Station site, located at the bottom of Smugglers Gulch, to a site on the upper portion of 63rd PL W (see attached map). There will continue to be intermittent work to tie the new sewer line into a sewer manhole. This project is anticipated to be complete within the next four to six weeks.

 Impacts:

The construction operations for this project will impact traffic in/along 63rd PL W where the FM exits the bore and will be tied into a new sewer manhole.  This will require a small section of 63rd PL W to be closed for a short period of time.  Pedestrian access will be maintained, and no driveways will be blocked during this phase of construction. During the closure, some residents will need to drive a different route for ingress/egress as the roads in this area are looped.  The new 6” FM will be fused together and temporarily laid alongside the roadways in areas without blocking driveway accesses.   There will be a short period of time, when the FM is pulled back into the bore hole, where driveways on one side of 63rd PL W will be temporarily blocked. The Contractor will do the best they can to accommodate access during construction.  Residents will continue to have uninterrupted water and sewer service during the project.
