IMPORTANT INFORMATION: DO NOT FLUSH SANITATION WIPES

PLEASE KEEP ALL SANITATION WIPES OUT OF THE SEWER SYSTEM BY PLACING THEM IN THE GARBAGENOT THE TOILET

The Mukilteo Water and Wastewater District has adopted a seven-day workweek, for the duration of the COVID-19 Emergency, to better handle the numerous challenges that have been presented.  One of these challenges is the significant risk to the sewer utility from the increased practice of flushing rags and wipes, used in the cleaning and disinfecting process, down the toilet. Even though some disinfectant wipes are labeled “flushable”, experience has shown this is not the case. Disposable baby wipes, disinfecting “pop up” wipes, paper towels, and even small make-up remover wipes are the #1 cause of clogged sewer lines and pumps. Our ratepayers are ultimately responsible for the cost of repairing these backups. This is an avoidable problem and not an expense anyone wants to incur at any time, let alone during a public emergency.

Please dispose of all types of wipes in the garbage.

The Mukilteo Water and Wastewater Staff thanks you.
