Mukilteo Food Bank

These are tough times everywhere, including the Pacific Northwest. The Mukilteo Food Bank has seen its client base double in the past year and the need is overwhelming. They are supporting more than 1,200 people in the Mukilteo School District, which encompasses an area from Puget Sound to I-5.

In the past, their needs were filled by food supplies from the U.S. government, Volunteers of America and Food Lifeline, supplemented by food drives at the local schools and the post office. This is no longer true. Their shelves are emptying quickly and they’re asking for our help.

The Mukilteo Water and Wastewater District is hosting a food drive during the months of October and November. Listed below are items that are currently needed:

Baby Diapers, Food, Formula and Wipes
Cooking Oil
Food and Toiletries
Canned Fruits
Canned Soups and Stews
Canned Protein Items (tuna, corned beef hash, chili, peanut butter-especially crunchy)
Soy Milk/Rice Milk (non-refrigerated)
Vegetarian Items (canned beans, soups, chili)
Pasta and Rice
Canned Vegetables (pasta sauce, peas, olives)

In addition to the items above, simple items such as the bags to hold groceries, are a vital part of getting food to people who need it.

You can drop off donations at our Administration office at 7824 Mukilteo Speedway, in Mukilteo between 8 am and 5 pm. While cash donations are accepted at the food bank, which is located at 4514 84th St SW in Mukilteo, we ask that any monetary donations be made in the form of a gift card from Albertsons, Fred Meyer, or QFC or by check made out to the Mukilteo Food Bank.
