This project was identified as project LS-4 in the 2011 Comprehensive Plan. The project included evaluating alternatives to abandon Lift Stations 2, 4 and 12 by connecting them by gravity to the Lift Station 5 collections system and/or diversion of Lift Station 4 and/or 12 to a new gravity line along 92nd Street SW. For Lift Station 10, the evaluation would include consideration of a second lift station to reduce the capacity requirements for the existing lift station/force main system. The Lift Station 10 evaluation will also include a comparison with the cost of upsizing the existing force main along Mukilteo Speedway and increasing capacity at Lift Station 10 when rebuilt.
The Lift Station Evaluation Project will also include an evaluation of Lift Station 8 and its force main. This station has a very long (nearly a mile) 4-inch force main resulting in H2S formation which causes corrosion and odor at the discharge of the force main. The project will include looking at shorter routes for the force main and the chemical injection. The shorter routes would require crossing over or under a deep ravine. Project Manager is Rick Matthews.
